Community Action

Luncheon

Welcome! Each year, CEO welcomes friends and supporters to an annual celebration.

We showcase the mission and work of CEO in Rensselaer County while honoring individuals and businesses that are transforming their communities through advocacy, empowerment, investment, and compassion for those living in poverty. All proceeds from the event support organizational programs and services that reach more than 12,000 children and families each year.

 

CEO is excited to announce Joe Roberts will be the Keynote Speaker for our Community Action Luncheon on May 22!
 
Joe Roberts aka The Skidrow CEO is an expert on resilience and change. Having experienced both catastrophic failure and extraordinary success Joe teaches how to overcome roadblocks that get in the way of high performance. What is most amazing about Joe is that in 1989 he was living on the streets of Vancouver as a homeless skid row addict. Through perseverance, determination and his resilient human spirit, Joe pulled himself out of darkness and despair, to become a highly respected business and community leader.

Leslie Cheu & The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation’s funding for the “What If…” Mini Grant program embodies the spirit of Community Action as it empowers residents to propose solutions that will have a long-lasting impact on their community. This initiative creates partnerships, opportunities, and engagement to meet identified needs within Rensselaer county neighborhoods.

Community Action Legacy Award

Awarded to an individual who demonstrated unwavering dedication in advocating for the needs of children and families who face economic hardship.

Karen E. Gordon

Karen E. Gordon has been a lifelong champion of Community Action. For nearly 40 years, Karen’s vision, advocacy, and leadership helped to create a strong foundation that resulted in expanded services and the creation of family resource centers across Rensselaer County. Her commitment to helping people achieve self-sufficiency has left a lasting impact and assisted countless individual’s and families’ lives in the community.
